Parent Forum


Wanaka Primary School is proud of its dynamic and innovative Parent Forum who support our school in many ways.

The Parent Forum are a group from our school learning community who provide a forum for discussion at their meetings, arrange special events for the school and are our main drivers of fundraising activities to provide those special extras for our children in their learning and play.

Parent Forum News


A big thank you to everyone who has helped and supported the Parent Forum over the last year. 

We had some great fundraising efforts this year with the A & P Show grocery raffle raising $2,450.  Thanks to Mitre 10 and Placemakers who donated the wheelbarrows and parents of the school, who donated groceries and their time to sell tickets.

The House Tour raised $11,700.  Big thank you to Nicola McDonald and Phillippa Wilson for the tremendous amount of time organising this huge event.  Also to the house owners, sponsors and all the parents that helped out.

The Chocolate Fundraiser this year raised just under $15,000.  A huge thank you to Sandy Guy for her organisation of this great fundraiser.

We also had a stall at Girls Day Out, raising $129, thanks to those parents who dropped off baking.

Athletics Day bbq was a great success resulting in $950 being raised.  Thanks to New World, Quality Bakers, Wanaka Fire Brigade (for bbq) and to everyone who helped cook sausages on the day.

A big thank you to Leonie Sanders and Barb Murphy for their organisation and tireless efforts with our calendar fundraiser which raised approximately $3000.

This year the Parent Forum has donated just over $29,000 to the school.  These donations include helping purchase a ‘calf’ for one of the pods.  This is a storage trolley containing 20 Toshiba notebooks for the students to use in class.  We have also donated some money to help purchase the graduation gifts for Year 6 students.

So we have had a busy year with fundraising for our school.  Don’t forget anyone can come to our meetings.  Our next meeting is February 15 2011@ 7pm in the staffroom.
